Free Time
when you’re on a break..

The 6 month course is intense and we believe it is important that students remain strong, both physically and mentally and so we ensure that you have sufficient time to relax and recuperate.

Training is conducted from Monday-Friday and so the weekends for the most part are free for students to sleep-in, relax by the pool, do some shopping or laundry or just explore the area such as Kruger park.

Every 4 weeks there is a one week break away from the training. This gives the students sufficient time to explore further afield, head to the coast for a couple of days or whatever takes your fancy. If students choose to stay on at the centre, they will be expected to self-cater and be responsible for their own well-being as the staff will be away too.

There are numerous options for students to explore in the area including

  • A trip up Mariepskop.
  • A visit to any of the Animal Rehab. centres in the local area.
  • A 2-3 hour boat trip on the Olifant’s barrage or the Blyde Dam.
  • A visit to the world famous Kruger National Park. Explore the far north or head to the south, either way will offer you a wider choice of habitats to explore.
  • Book a mountain biking trip through a neighbouring Big 5 reserve.
  • and many others……

Students must be back at the centre by Sunday evening at the latest , ready to start the new semester on the Monday morning activity.

Mid-day siesta

The early mornings and long hours of study are hard work and a mid-day siesta sometimes feels like heaven

Time to relax

Even the animals sometimes need to yawn to wake themselves up. We don’t mind if the students do, but please don’t fall asleep during lectures.

On top of the World

Take a trip up the mountains or do something totally different. From above the world seems a very different place.

Time to unwind

Enjoy a night out during your time off and unwind at any of the local restaurants and bars in town. Remember though we don’t tolerate the use of alcohol during the week, you are here to study.
